With 2019, an international year comes to an end

If a review of the year is immediately followed by the next review, it is not because there was nothing to report, but because there was no time and silence to write a new article.

In February we introduced our first school trainee to the world of HTML, web servers and communities.
Impulse Circle also started in late summer in the USA, after its first successful launch in China in 2018. At the beginning of the year Stars Insight had already gone online in the USA.
In order to be able to offer Open Social with a German user interface, a lot of time and energy was invested in the translation. Besides, the work on the translation catapulted us into the top 10 German translators for Drupal. At this point we would like to thank Joachim Namyslo for his great support!

Impulse Circle is based on Open Social and Drupal 8, supported by LimeSurvey for online community surveys. The combination of Open Social and LimeSurvey has successfully shown that it can replace the CommunityBox CSI.
We will no longer offer the CommunityBox for new projects in 2020 and will continue to support ongoing projects with great dedication.

And what's to come in 2020?

In 2020 Drupal 9 will be released, expected on June 3rd. The greatest advantage compared to previous Drupal versions will be that updating from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9 will be much easier, as any version update before. The only thing that needs to be done in the modules used is to replace obsolete functions with current functions - and this can be done even before the release of Drupal 9. For example, we have already ensured compatibility with Drupal 9 for our module "Automatic Alternative Text", which was introduced in 2017.
The major benefit of this new update strategy will be the update of Open Social from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9. Thus, with the release of Drupal 9, Open Social should also be available for the new Drupal version soon.
