Innodrop with a new layout

Innodrop, the platform for idea competitions, received a new modern layout.

The most important consideration in the development of the new layout was the desire to present  Innodrop on all devices from the desktop PC to the smartphone intuitively and easy to use.

Innodrop is one of only few platforms for idea competitions, which can be operated on mobile devices without the hassle of zooming and panning.

By the reduction of the used colours, it is easier in the future to adapt Innodrop to an existing  CI, when the operation of a customer's own, enclosed platform is desired.

Crowdsourcing explained simply

Crowdsourcing is changing how we think about getting things done. This video outlines the basic ideas and potential of asking a crowd to help complete a project.

This video follows the story of a person who discovers how a “crowd” of strangers can help him accomplish a goal. It teaches:

Innodrop 2.0 with a framework for multilingual capability

"Only" a German user interface was available when Innodrop was first launched. The latest version now offers a user interface in both German and English. An outstanding new feature is especially worthy of mention; not only are two independent translations of static content provided but all contributions (submitted ideas and comments) are machine translated into all available languages, currently German and English.

The results of machine translation are by no means perfect but they enable participants of a different language to understand and comment on the content of a contribution.

Version 2.0 of the „Community out of the box“

The new features at a glance:

  • Responsive Design: experience the community on all devices, from your desktop to your smartphones
  • your personal status-stream, similar to the functionality of Facebook in order to inform the participants
  • Questions and Answers as new feature to collect quickly the opinion of your members

It is about one year ago that we released our "community out of the box". An entire community platform based on Drupal and Commons. For a successful operation of your community, we added a German translation and enhancements that we deemed necessary.

"Video out of the box" is our powerful service for the "Community out of the box".

Our new service "Video out of the box" enables the community to handle video content. The service offers an interface for community members to uplaod videos.

The videos are stored on a special server, where they are converted into consistend formats and can afterwards published to the community.

During implementation we focused on the topic that the videos need to play on most available devices, including desktop PC's, Notebooks, Tablets - especially the iPad and smartphones.
Consequently, the display of the community on mobile devices is taken into account.

For any device the video is made ??available in a suitable resolution to ensure optimum on loading time.

The community on your smartphone

Setting up a community platform to run on your desktop computer? Business as usual in 2011.
Running the community as Facebook application? Maybe an option, worth to think about the advantages.
A mobile theme to access the community on the smartphone? Maybe a "must have" to succeed in 2011.
If you think the same, you can optionally add the mobile theme to our "community out of the box" solution.
It’s not the goal of the mobile theme to make all functions of a complex community available on the smartphone, instead it should help the community members to have the "core-functions" available, to be update while being away.
Therefore the menu is limited compared to desktop version.

New functionality for the ideation contest

"The Box" includes the new ideation contest module

With the last version of the ideation contest it was only possible to publish ideas and comment on ideas of other users in the public phase of the contest.

With the new module users can write complete reviews of ideas, combined with a rating. On top of the increased functionality, the look and feel was redesigned for an easier and more intuitive use.

The new layout comes with fresh colors and a very friendly user interface.
